We can all experience anxious feelings sometimes – it might be about getting exam results, talking to new people, or performing in front of others. These feelings are a normal part of life and can help us avoid danger or perform at our best.
For some people though, their anxious feelings can be much more extreme. This anxiety is more than feeling stressed – it's a serious condition that makes day-to-day life difficult.
When your anxiety is preventing you from participating in school, social activities and other daily commitments it is important to seek help. This can be from your parents, the school’s wellbeing team or another supportive adult.
