The important part of helping a family member or a friend, is to understand that you are there to offer support, but it is up to them to decide how they are going to get it. If your friend doesn't want help, then be patient, checking in with them lets them know you care and are willing to have the conversation when they are ready. Now and then, remind your family member or friend of their options, but try not to pressure them.
If you are worried about their safety or that they are going to hurt themselves somehow, you MUST let a trusted adult know, as soon as possible.
