At the end of year 9 I travelled to Italy on an exchange program for 3 months (end of October 2018 – end of January 2019). Going to Italy on exchange was the best experience I have ever had. I had an amazing host family and they became like my own family. I also made many friends whom which I still talk to today.
They took me to many places in Italy including Pisa, Sienna, Venice, Lucca, Gubbio, Milan, Rome and Bologna. I stayed in an apartment in the centre of Florence and went to school like a typical Italian girl 10 out of 12 weeks.
Spending Christmas and adapting to the Italian lifestyle was a great experience and I had the opportunity to do many things I couldn’t do in Australia like visit the dome and cathedral in Florence and see the leaning tower of Pisa. I learnt a lot about their culture and ate so many amazing foods and even learned to cook some amazing pasta and pizza recipes.
I had a one of a lifetime travel experience and I would recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity.
