Assembly Week 6

This week we had a spectacular Women’s Day assembly. This year’s theme for the Women’s Day assembly was “Balance for the better”. There were two amazing performances. “Why did you break my heart” was sung by Carol Igyarto, followed by Jordan Richards with “I’m not dreaming anymore”, the song she had already performed in front of 50,000 people at the Sydney Opera House .

Nicole Chettle, who is a presenter for the ABC news, was one of our guests for this week. She spoke about her childhood experiences and how she became a public speaker. “Think of life as a blank canvas, all the choices you make in high school will make it out to be a brilliant masterpiece” was one of her best quotes.

Our second guest for Women’s Day was Angelica Ojinnaka, ex- school captain. She works for Macquarie University as an ambassador for global leadership rights. She is also a survivor of sexual, emotional and physical abuse. “Don’t feel about embarassed things that have happened to you, there will always be someone to support you” said Angelica.

Unfortunately, Ms. Kelly wasn’t able to join us this week, but instead Ms Piech gave an address about what Women’s Day is all about and its values. It has inspired us all.

Our sincere thanks to Ms Nicole Chettle and Ms Angelica Ojinnaka for their time and adress to the audience.
